about

Bringing writing, directing and sound to the stage and the screen

Growing up in the French and German theater world, Ophelia’s first love was acting, which she pursued while getting a philosophy degree at King’s College London. She then soon moved into directing and started getting hired out of college as a director and an assistant director by large opera companies such as Deutsche Oper Berlin and The Metropolitan Opera House. She was the youngest person to receive the Juilliard Opera Directing Fellowship, and the first person to receive it two years in a row. Ophelia directed a variety of opera productions across the United States and Europe, before moving into film and television. She received her MFA in Film and TV Production from USC and has been working as a writer and director since. She has done extensive work in production and post production sound as well, and Ophelia is also the author of Gods & Angels, a fantasy novel available on Amazon and Google Books. An avid hiker, she likes to spend her free time outdoors or in martial arts classes.

“simple, tasteful direction” - Parterre Box

"Ophelie Wolf's stage direction was inventive without [...} being invasive. [It} served to draw out the buoyancy and humor of the piece."

- Opera News, Rinaldo

"Ophelie Wolf’s simple, tasteful direction did effectively present the action and left her six singers to tackle their demanding arias with a minimum of the distracting stage business one often encounters in Handel productions."

- Parterre Box, Love, Sex, Magic

"It was one of the high points of the evening, occurring during Armida's Act II vengeance aria and, as cleverly directed by Ophelie Wolf, had the evil sorceress (singular soprano Jessica Niles) bursting with impatience as Mr. Dassa piled cadenza upon cadenza. She even lit up a cigarette (mock) which she shared with the musicians of Juilliard 415 in an hilarious show of boredom."

- Voce Di Meche Battle of the Sexes, Battle of the Faiths

"Stage director Ophelia Wolf gets the balance between drama and comedy just right as she creates a "Don Giovanni" that is first and foremost a highly entertaining opera. She lets justice prevail by bringing the curtain down on Giovanni's torment in the inferno and skipping the epilogue in which the problems of the other characters are resolved. Wolf's direction reflects the rising social awareness of the #metoo movement by emphasizing the independence of female characters over their complete dominance by the males. She frames the 332-year- old opera to present social issues that can raise questions and initiate conversations in 2019."

- Syracuse.com, Syracuse Opera proves karma is real with stunning interpretation of 'Don Giovanni'

"Conclusively a five-star debut fantasy read, that can be enjoyed by readers of all ages, owing to its bewildering content, remarkable diction, and soothing narration."
